Description du projet
In May, June, and September 2022, in Rabat, 150 women from countries such as Guinea Conakry, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria actively participated in workshops led by Aïda Kheireddine, a gender and migration expert, and Maroua Khouya, a midwife with extensive expertise in the sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by women in Morocco. The workshops highlighted existing strategies to combat gender-based violence (GBV) and proposed practical solutions to improve access to justice. Key recommendations included providing translation services for women, eliminating the requirement of a residency permit to file complaints, and training administrative staff on migrants’ rights and gender-sensitive bestpractices. Participants were also informed about extrajudicial mechanisms, such as the Regional Human Rights Commission’s option to lodge complaints or seek mediation when judicial avenues are exhausted. Additionally, the sessions raised awareness about migrants’ rights and empowered participants to advocate for systemic changes. By addressing structural barriers and fostering collaboration between migrant communities and institutions, the project aimed to strengthen protections for vulnerable women and advance equitable access to justice.
